Hundreds Of Bags Of Heroin, Crack Recovered From Nassau Home: Police

Nassau County police say it was the second time the homeowner has been arrested for selling large quantities of drugs.

HICKSVILLE, NY — A Hicksville man was arrested Sunday after Nassau County police say a drug investigation led to his home, and the recovery of hundreds of bags of narcotics.

According to police, Nassau County detectives searched a home on Apollo Lane at 6:08 p.m. Sunday. They arrested Mario Santo, who police say had 28 glassine envelopes of heroin and 15 small bags of crack cocaine on him at the time.

During a search of his home, police say detectives found 213 glassine envelopes of heroin, 50 small bags of crack cocaine, cash and drug paraphernalia.

Santo is charged with four counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal possession of drug paraphernalia. He is scheduled to be arraigned later today in First District Court in Hempstead.

Police say Santo was previously arrested on July 30 and charged with five counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree criminal possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released without bail, police said.
