Latin King Arrested On Robbery, Gun Charges: Police

The Nassau County Police Department says he was one of three men who forced his way into a Westbury home in 2018.

WESTBURY, NY — The Nassau County Police Department arrested a man they say is a Latin King gang member on several charges in relation to a July 2018 armed robbery.

Police say that on July 26, 2018, around 4:20 p.m., a 50-year-old man in Westbury opened his front door after hearing his doorbell ring. Julio Vasquez, 24, was among three men there, police say.

They were looking for a man who rented a room at the residence. The man said he wasn't there, but the three men forced their way into the house, according to the police department's release.

Two of the men, including Vasquez, pulled handguns on the man and forced him to the floor, police say. Vasquez stayed with him while the other two went into a bedroom and took a television and gaming console, according to the release.

The other two men have not been apprehended.

Police charged Vasquez with:

  • first-degree burglary
  • second-degree burglary
  • two counts of first-degree robbery
  • second-degree robbery
  • first-degree criminal use of a firearm
  • second-degree criminal use of a firearm

Vasquez will be arraigned Thursday, Sept. 19 in Hempstead.
