Live Theater Returns To Hicksville HS With 'Charlie Brown'
The students staged the popular "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown" this month, bringing live theater back to the district.
HICKSVILLE, NY — The Hicksville High School Repertory Company recently presented “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.” The show featured 18 actors, 35 musicians and a backstage crew of students exploring life’s great questions as they play baseball, struggle with homework, sing songs, swoon over their crushes and celebrate the joy of friendship. Students performed three performances to a live audience over the weekend of March 11.
This year’s production was a two-act show with the students performing non-consecutive moments in the life of Charlie Brown, starting with the full cast performing “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.” The show then progressed into other key moments of his life with song selections that included “The Doctor Is In,” “The Book Report,” “Glee Club Rehearsal” and “Happiness.”
“All of these young performers have worked extremely hard every day after school for months to put together this production,” stated Caitlin Cassidy, Hicksville High School English and theatre teacher. “Returning to the stage was an exciting opportunity for the students, teachers and the entire school community!”
