Nassau Man Attacked Girlfriend, Arresting Officers: Police
Police say two officers were injured while trying to place him under arrest.
HICKSVILLE, NY — A Nassau County man was arrested on Sunday after police say he attacked his girlfriend and officers.
According to police, Salvatore Alani, 26, of Farmingdale, was in a fight with his girlfriend at a home on South Oyster Bay Road in Hicksville at 1:15 p.m. on Feb. 20. Police say Alani hurt the woman during the fight, and she called 911.
When officers arrived, they were told that Alani was drunk and had broken a TV before he fled the scene, police said. The officers found him a short distance away from the home.

As the officers tried to place Alani under arrest, police say he became combative. He refused to comply with the officers' orders and spit in one officer's face, police said. The officers managed to place him under arrest, and he was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
Two officers suffered injuries and were treated at a hospital. Police say the woman refused medical attention.

Police say that Alani was in violation of a stay-away protective order involving his girlfriend.
Alani is charged with two counts of second-degree assault, first- and second-degree criminal contempt, fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree harassment, disorderly conduct, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest. He will be arraigned when medically practical.
