Nassau Man Stabbed Another During Argument: Police

Police say an argument between the two men escalated, and ended in violence.

NEW CASSEL, NY — A New Cassel man was arrested here Tuesday after Nassau County police say he stabbed another man in an argument.

According to police, Emilio Cruz-Yanes, 59, of New Cassel, was in an argument with a 50-year-old man outside a deli on Prospect Avenue at 5:50 p.m. Police say the argument escalated, and Cruz-Yanes stabbed the other man in the chest and then fled the scene.

The man was take to a hospital for treatment.

Police located Cruz-Yanes a short time later and arrested him without incident.

Cruz-Yanes is charged with first-degree assault. He is scheduled to be arraigned later today in First District Court in Hempstead.
