“The defendant was allegedly exceeding 100 miles per hour in his vehicle just before impact, and never made an effort to brake before the deadly collision,” said Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly. “As we prosecute this tragic case, our thoughts are with Maricela Donaire’s family.”
According to Donnelly, around 10:40 p.m. on Dec. 12, 2021, Tanveer was driving a 2016 BMW 340i xDrive east on Jericho Turnpike in Old Westbury at more than 100 MPH. Donnelly said he was driving while impaired by drugs when he crashed into a 2009 Chevy Impala as it pulled out of the driveway of Westbury manor.

The driver of the Impala, 30-year-old Maricela Donaire, was killed in the crash.
Donnelly said that Tanveer's car kept going down Jericho Turnpike after the crash, overturned and finally stopped upside down on top of a boulder next to Westbury Manor.
Tanveer was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released. He surrendered himself to police on Sept. 1, 2022.
