​W. Tresper Clarke High School Named A Blue Ribbon School

W. Tresper Clarke High School in Westbury was awarded the coveted title of National Blue Ribbon School on Monday by the U.S. Department of Education.

The school is among 20 New York schools, four from Long Island, that were among 349 recognized this year — 300 public and 49 private — for their academic excellence with each borough landing a school on the list. Now it is 36th year, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has highlighted more than 8,800 educational institutions among their state's highest performing schools measure by state or national standards.

The U.S. Department of Education will honor the schools at an award ceremony in Washington, D.C. come November.

W. Tresper Clarke High School is located in the East Meadow School District. The other Long Island schools to make the list are Sayville High School, South Side High School and Elwood-John H. Glenn High School.

"I'm pleased to celebrate with you as your school is named a National Blue Ribbon School,” U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos said in a video message. “We recognize and honor your important work in preparing students for successful careers and meaningful lives. Congratulations on your students' accomplishments and for your extraordinary commitment to meeting their unique needs.”
