HICKSVILLE, NY — There are plenty of haunted houses for scary excitement this month. But Michael Dessart has a family-friendly option with the Halloween House Long Island. It's running at the Broadway Commons in Hicksville.

"We are a walk-through experience for all ages," Dessart told Patch. "There's no fear, no jump scares."

What you'll find, though, is colorful sets creating different themes for visitors, including "Nightmare Before Christmas" and "Glow in the Dark" rooms.

"There are scavenger hunt items [and] all kind of fun things to do when you go through the experience," Dessart said. "It's completely immersive. You become part of the scene."

Those scenes have been created by Hollywood and Broadway set designers.
