Woman Critically Hurt After Being Hit By Minivan In Hicksville

A woman is in critical condition after she was struck by a minivan while crossing the street in Hicksville on Thursday night, police say.

According to authorities, the 30-year-old woman was attempting to cross S. Broadway when she was struck by a 2007 Toyota Sienna traveling northbound at 7:15 p.m.

The woman suffered serious head injuries, a fractured back and a collapsed lung as a result of the crash. She was transported by an ambulance to an area hospital where she was listed in critical condition.

The driver of the minivan, a 52-year-old woman, remained at the scene, police say.

A brake and safety test was conducted on the minivan. The investigation is continuing.
