• One dead, one hospitalized after crash in Hyde Park (news10.com) — A serious head-on collision on Route 9 near Huyler Drive in Hyde Park left a 28-year-old local man dead and another driver hospitalized with serious injuries Sunday afternoon. Police say a northbound pickup crossed the double yellow line and struck a southbound Honda Accord. Hyde Park Police, assisted by New York State Police, are still investigating the cause.
   

• He went from mowing FDR's lawn to the Battle of the Bulge (militarytimes.com) — A 96-year-old Hudson Valley veteran recalls how his boyhood summers working at Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Hyde Park estate led into wartime service from the Ground Observer Corps to the Battle of the Bulge. Growing up on a small Staatsburg farm, he biked past Hyde Park to guard the Hudson and later crossed Europe with an artillery unit. His memories connect local places residents know with pivotal moments in World War II.
