Elmhurst, Corona Seniors To Get Free Ride To Medical Appointments
Seniors living in Elmhurst, Corona and Lefrak City are now eligible for free Lyft rides to and from the doctor's office.
ELMHURST, QUEENS — Seniors living in Elmhurst, Corona and Lefrak City are now eligible for free Lyft rides to and from the doctor's office.
The non-profit Queens Community House and the Forest Hills Stadium are partnering with Lyft to provide locals over 65 with free rides to and from their medical appointments, according to a press release.
Previously, Queens Community House's medical transportation program was only open to seniors living in Forest Hills and Rego Park.

Those seniors could only use the service within the borough, and they had to pay half the cost of the ride.
Under the new partnership, the transportation program is expanding to Elmhurst, Corona and Lefrak City for the first time, and seniors will be able to head to appointments outside of Queens.

"For a growing portion of our older population, once routine outings like going to a doctor's appointment have become monumental challenges," Queens Community House executive director Ben Thomases said in a statement.
