Elmhurst Hospital To Build New Outpatient Surgery Center
The City Council voted Wednesday to devote $5.5 million to a new outpatient surgical center at NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst​ in Queens.

ELMHURST, QUEENS — The City Council voted Wednesday to devote $5.5 million to a new outpatient surgical center at NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst in Queens.
The surgical center will include a new operating room and four procedure rooms to bolster the public hospital's efforts to treat urological and gastrointestinal disorders, prostate cancer, colon cancer and kidney disease.
Those conditions all disproportionately affect the hospital's surrounding community, the hospital, said a spokesman for City Council Member Francisco Moya, who represents Elmhurst.

Moya and the council's Queens delegation sponsored the $5.5 million budget allocation to the hospital.
The City Council voted Wednesday to adopt a $92.8 billion city budget for the fiscal year 2020, which begins July 1 and ends June 30, 2020.
