JACKSON HEIGHTS, QUEENS — A fundraiser to pay for the burial of a Jackson Heights man who was shot and killed this week has exceeded $2,000.
Jeffrey Arroyo, 31, suffered a fatal shot to the chest Monday around the corner from his Jackson Heights apartment. Across the street from Arroyo's home, there's now a memorial crowded with prayer candles and notes from loved ones mourning his death.
"Jeffrey was a gentle soul with a big heart and a tough exterior," Albert Munoz, who started the fundraiser Tuesday, wrote on GoFundMe. "We ask we come together to help his mother through this tough time and help with anything for burial costs and services."
