Jackson Heights Man Arrested For Fatal Stabbing In East Elmhurst

EAST ELMHURST, QUEENS — Police have arrested a Jackson Heights man on charges that he attacked and killed a homeless man in East Elmhurst earlier this month.

Luis Lara Del Castillo, 31, faces charges of manslaughter and gang assault in connection with the death of Fabian Cymry five days after a mysterious stabbing, police said.

First responders found the 40-year-old victim with stab wounds in his chest at the corner of 31st Avenue and 91st Street on June 2, according to police. Cymry died five days later.

Lara Del Castillo was part of a group of three that attacked the man following an argument, according to Acting Queens District Attorney John M. Ryan.

If convicted, he faces up to 25 years in prison.
