VIDEO: Flames Erupt In East Elmhurst Transformer Fire

EAST ELMHURST, QUEENS — A transformer caught on fire Wednesday night in East Elmhurst after a tree and a utility pole fell to the ground, CBS New York reports.

Videos posted to the app Citizen show flames shooting out of a manhole by 32nd Avenue and 98th Street just after 9 p.m.

The blaze happened as powerful storms battered New York City, leading to flooding and power outages.

Con Edison did not immediately return a request for comment.
