5 Pedestrians Hit In Same-Day Jamaica Avenue Crashes

The two crashes — on the same day and the same street, in two different parts of Queens — left two​​ in critical condition, reports say.

JAMAICA, QUEENS — A Queens woman and her grandson were crossing Jamaica Avenue in Richmond Hill on Saturday when a driver slammed into them, according to news reports.

Just a few hours later and three miles east, a driver jumped the curb at Jamaica Avenue and Woodhull, injuring three pedestrians.

The two crashes — on the same day and the same street, in two different neighborhoods of Queens — left two people in critical condition, according to the New York Daily News.

In the first crash, about 11:15 a.m. Saturday, a driver was turning onto Jamaica Avenue at 115th Street and hit a 56-year-old woman and her grandson. The grandmother is now fighting for her life at Jamaica Hospital, the Daily News reported.

Several hours later, about 4:30 p.m., a 66-year-old driver trying to beat a red light at the intersection of Jamaica and Woodhull went onto the sidewalk and hit three women, according to the Daily News. One of the pedestrians was critically hurt.

Police have not arrested either driver.
