JAMAICA, QUEENS — A 25-year-old man died from a shot to the chest just steps from his Jamaica home Tuesday night, police said.

Gregory Haskins had just stepped outside his Sutphin Boulevard home about 10:00 p.m. when a bullet struck him and he fell to the ground, according to police and an ABC7 report.

First responders rushed Haskins to Jamaica Hospital, where he died.

"He's a good kid," family friend Ignaris Santana told ABC7. "I don't understand why he got shot."

There are no arrests. It is unclear whether the shooting was targeted.
