SOUTH JAMAICA, QUEENS — A Queens restaurant worker died after a dumbwaiter crushed him Monday, according to reports.

Police say they found the man, 67-year-old Granville Wiltshire, unconscious in the basement of popular South Jamaica restaurant The Door on Baisley Boulevard about 6:30 a.m. Monday after responding to a 911 call for a rescue.

A malfunctioning dumbwaiter, which carries goods from the restaurant's basement to the first floor, had pinned the man and crushed him, according to the New York Daily News.

Wiltshire, a St. Albans resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.
