Queens Woman Dumps Baby In Trash After Giving Birth At Home: NYPD

The woman admitted on Wednesday to leaving the unresponsive newborn in a trash can after giving birth in her Ozone Park home, cops say.

JAMAICA, QUEENS -- A Queens woman who was rushed to the ER for stomach pains on Wednesday later admitted she gave birth at home but dumped the baby in a trash can, police said.

The 23-year-old woman arrived at the Jamaica Hospital emergency room with severe abdominal pain at around 2 a.m. but doctors called 911 after noticing signs of trauma that suggested she'd recently given birth, an NYPD spokesperson told Patch.

The woman later told officers she gave birth at 28 weeks pregnant on Sunday inside her Ozone Park home, authorities said. She claimed the premature infant was born unresponsive, so she decided to get rid of it in a nearby garbage can.
