ST. ALBANS, QUEENS — Police are looking for the attacker who fatally slashed a 66-year-old St. Albans woman in her home last week.
First responders found Janice Matthews unconscious in the basement of her 172nd Street home the evening of Aug. 22 and pronounced her dead, according to a police spokesperson.
Matthews had been slashed in the neck and was wrapped in bedsheets, the New York Daily News reported.

The NYPD on Monday officially deemed the case a homicide. There are no arrests.
