2 Men Arrested After Crashing Stolen SUV In Suffolk: Police

The men crashed the car into a marsh, police say. Officers are looking for a third man, police say.

KINGS PARK, NY — Two men who crashed a stolen car into a Kings Park marsh and ran away were arrested on Wednesday, Suffolk police said.

Police officers saw a white 2017 Lexus SUV that matched the description of a car that was stolen over the last several weeks, police said. Officers watched the SUV enter Landing Avenue Park and crash into a marshy area around 4 a.m. Wednesday.

Three men ran off and two were apprehended shortly after, one outside a Riviera Drive home and another on Rumford Road, both in Kings Park, police said. Neither were injured in the crash.

Police were still looking for the third man.

The Lexus was reported stolen Jan. 13 outside a Copperbeech Road home in Saint James, police said. Stolen purses and credit cards were also in the car, police said.

Milton Allen, 19, of Hempstead, faces charges of third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, third-degree grand larceny, and two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, all felonies. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of third-degree unauthorized use of a vehicle.

Andrew Lawrence, 21, Hempstead, faces charges of third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, and misdemeanor charges of third-degree unauthorized use of a vehicle and leaving the scene of a crash with property damage.

Both were held overnight at the Fourth Precinct and were scheduled to appear in First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday.
