9 Inches of Snow in Kings Park As Flurries Continue
Wind chill cause temperature to feel like -8 degrees outside, flurries possible till noon.

Kings Park saw roughly 9 inches of snow from Winter Storm Hercules, according to the National Weather Service, although drifts can cause that total to appear higher.Ā
Other nearby areas such as Islip's MacArthur Airport reported 8.9 inches of snow, and Stony Brook reported totals ofĀ 8 inches.Ā
According to Mike Silva, meteorologist at the National Weather Service Office in Upton, the storm held no surprises.
"This pretty much panned out exactly as we expected," he said. "We expected six to 10 inches of snow, with maybe a little bit higher out east. Some places managed to touch a foot."
Winds, however, weren't quite as fierce as initially predicted, but were starting to pick upĀ Fridaymorning, with "very dangerous" temperatures across Long Island. With the wind chill factor, some areas felt as though it were minus 11 degrees, with a range of minus three to minus eight.
Temperatures are not expected to rise higher than the upper teens for most of Long IslandĀ Friday.
Two last bands of snow are slated toĀ continue movingĀ across Long IslandĀ FridayĀ morning, one in Suffolk County and one over northern Nassau; another inch or two of snow will fall byĀ 1 p.m., when the white stuff should disappear from the area completely.
