A recently identified woman was struck by a car in Inwood on April 20 and put in a coma. Police were, at first, seeking the public's help in identifying her. According to detectives, the woman was hit by a car at the intersection of Nassau Expressway and Mott Avenue at 6:55 a.m. Police say the driver stayed at the scene, and no criminality is suspected.

A bowling and entertainment business that's popular in Japan will be opening its first location in New York at Hicksville's Broadway Mall this summer. Round 1 will offer bowling, billiards, darts, karaoke, ping-pong, dining and arcade games. The company is looking to hire approximately 50 additional local employees before July.

Niche ranked America's suburbs based on low crime rates, quality schools, access to jobs and an affordable cost of living to create the report of the best suburbs to live in for 2017. To achieve its ranking calculations, Niche drew data from the U.S. Census Bureau, FBI and the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The Long Beach boardwalk was closed for an hour during the afternoon on April 17 after police received a call for a suspicious package near the foundation. According to authorities, the call for the package came in at 12:44 p.m. Long Beach police were informed of a suspicious package near one of the boardwalk supports near Riverside Boulevard.

A beloved Mattituck pediatrician is set to retire after 36 years of service to generations of families on the North Fork, and he recently announced in an open letter to the community that he's going to combine his practice. Dr. Thomas Mercier has worked tirelessly treating local children and their children after them, with his wife, Barbara, by his side.
