Man Who Photographed Children At Smithtown Gym Arrested: Police
The man snapped photos of children and gym staff without their consent in late April, police say.
KINGS PARK, NY ā A Kings Park man was arrested Tuesday after Suffolk police said he took photos of children without permission at a Smithtown gymnastics school in late April.
Robert Colyvas, 29, entered Gold Medal Gymnastics Center, at 253 W. Main St., Smithtown, between 12:40 p.m. and 1 p.m. April 29 and took pictures of the staff and children without consent, police said. He drove off in a four-door sedan, possibly a Hyundai, with unknown registration, police said.
Colyvas was arrested at his home just before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday following an investigation by Fourth Precinct Crime Section officers, police said.

Colyvas was charged with endangering the welfare of a child. He was held overnight at the Fourth Precinct, and his arraignment was scheduled for Wednesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
