A steady stream of residents arrived at the facility to dispose of personal documents, which were then safely destroyed by the Data Shredding Service's "Shreddersaurus."

The Department of Environment and Waterways and Smithtown Municipal Services Facility provided additional support staff to help move vehicles along. Two trucks from Data Shredding Services of Hauppauge also pitched in. Participants enjoyed short to no wait times and the opportunity to dispose of their documents safely while also avoiding the potential risk of identity theft.

The record attendance and weight for this event was set in September of 2020, with 440 households and more than 16 tons of sensitive documents safely shredded. Because of the peak of the coronavirus pandemic in April 2020, the town only hosted one shredding event that year.
