Trio of Burglaries Hit Fort Salonga
Suffolk County police confirm that three Fort Salonga homes were hit by burglars last week.Ā
Police said aĀ Northfield Drive homeowner reported on Oct. 28 at 9:15 a.m.Ā their house had been broken into. A thief snuck into the home through an unlocked window and took cash that was left in the open. No one was in the house at the time of the burglary.Ā
Police: 'Burglaries Are No. 1 on Our Priority List'
Suffolk County's Fourth Precinct police are cracking down on home burglaries after recent break-ins inĀ Fort Salonga and Smithtown.Ā
Inspector William Murphy, commanding officer of Suffolk County's Fourth Precinct in Smithtown, said police are investigating aĀ recent string of burglaries in Fort Salonga,Ā three homes hitĀ on Oct. 28, and Smithtown,Ā three homes hit between Oct. 16 - 18, and whether or not they are related.Ā
Smithtown Officials Approve AEDs at Memorial Park
After nearly a year and a half policy struggle, Smithtown's elected officials have approved the placement of two AEDs up at Memorial Park in Kings Park.Ā
Smithtown Town Board approved a policy at their Tuesday board meeting that will allow two AEDs, donated by Kings Park Youth Athletic Association, to be stored at Memorial Park to help save a life if necessary.
Vecchio's Reign as Supervisor Continues in Smithtown
Vecchio has won enough votes to Ā further extend his reign as New York's longest-serving town supervisor.Ā
Republican incumbent Patrick Vecchio has won the 2014 election for Town of Smithtown supervisor with 8,805 votes, over his Conservative challenger, Councilman Robert Creighton with 5,930 votes, and Democratic candidate Steven Snair with 4,783 votes with 89 out of 93 districts reporting, according to Suffolk County Board of Elections at 10:27 p.m.Ā
Girls Volleyball Wins Suffolk's Class A Title
Kings Park girls volleyball team has proven its Suffolk's powerhouse, winning its hat-trick of Suffolk titles on Wednesday.Ā
The Kingsmen varsity girls volleyball team won its third consecutive Suffolk Class A Championship title, beating Islip by 3-0 matches on Wednesday.
