• Business banned from selling tobacco (observertoday.com) — A Lakewood shop on East Fairmount Avenue has been permanently banned from selling cigarettes, tobacco, and vape products after repeated violations involving underage sales and ignoring a prior suspension. County health officials say Clouds Smokes and Vapors may stay open for non-tobacco items, but the state will be notified if any tobacco sales continue. This is the second such permanent ban in Chautauqua County this year. 
• Busti Resident Irked About Connection Fee (post-journal.com) — A long-time Busti resident is disputing a $7,000 commercial water connection fee tied to municipal service that also supplies the village of Lakewood. He argues his maple syrup “sugar house” is an agricultural, residential use, not commercial, and wants town and BPU officials to reconsider. Town leaders maintain commercial use requires the higher fee, and a meeting has yet to be scheduled.
