You may be able to guess 1017 S Constable Dr. is on the water before seeing the impressive waterfront views—many of the house's rooms are decorated with nautical flair.

"Every room has a theme," said owner Anthony DiMaggio, who lives in the home with his wife and two children. DiMaggio, who works in real estate, designed the home himself and built it with the help of an architect in 2008.

DiMaggio made sure to incorporate variation within the nautical theme—the turret's third story is windowed like a lighthouse; the second family room boasts a tropical ambiance; the fourth bedroom is adorned with model sailboats and round windows.

One of DiMaggio's favorite features is the master bedroom's barrel ceiling, reminiscent of a yacht.

During construction, DiMaggio blended several architectural styles, both inside and outside.

"The exterior is shingle style," DiMaggio explained. "But inside, there's a European flair."

DiMaggio also set up the home's restrooms like those of a spa or resort; sinks and washing areas are separated from the bath.

When DiMaggio acquired the property and began construction approximately three years ago, he tore down the existing home—a 1950s post-modern ranch—to start from scratch. The ranch featured two bedrooms, two-and-a-half baths, a greenhouse and screened-in porch.

"The ranch wasn't salvageable," DiMaggio said.

The consequent project took about two years to complete; nine months for design and approval, and another year-and-a-half for construction.
