There Was 'A Miracle On 34th Street' (A Few Miles Away) In Larchmont

The Larchmont Mamaroneck Lions gave us a chance to relive a simpler time at the library, on a very special occasion.

The production "brought the holiday spirit to life with an incredible cast of community voices, including fellow Lions Jason Summers and Michael Nicoletta, alongside many talented local performers," according to the Larchmont Mamaroneck Lions.

LARCHMONT, NY — There was a true "Miracle on 34th" this year, but just a few miles from where you might expect.

The Larchmont Mamaroneck Lions Club, along with the Larchmont Library, the Sandbox Theatre, The Westchester Council for the Blind, LMC Media, and The Society for the Preservation of Radio Drama, Variety and Comedy, presented a live audio theater recreation of the 1949 Lux Radio Theater's version of the holiday classic movie, "Miracle On 34th Street."

The production took place before a live audience on December 21, from 2 p.m.-3:30 p.m. at the Larchmont Village Center.

The event also included a special screening of a classic "Ozzie and Harriet" Christmas episode, including Ricky Nelson singing "The Christmas Song." In addition, there was an audience quiz with festive prizes.

The Lions said that the event was especially meaningful because they will be celebrating the Centennial of the Larchmont Lions and host their annual Points of Light Celebration of Service on January 11, at the Orienta Beach Club. Over 60 local community service groups will be honored at the event. It will also include the presentation of the Jack Coughlin Community Service Awards to Larchmont Friends of the Family and Pat Allen. The keynote speaker is the past president of Lions International, Douglas Alexander.
