Home on the High End Boasts Mamaroneck's Longest Pier
1337 Flagler Dr., listed at $3,995,000, brings New England to New York and also features a harbor-side pool.

The last time 1337 Flagler Dr. was on the market, it likely wasn't garnering as much attention.
The colonial—now a sprawling waterfront property with a harbor-side pool, pier and custom-paneled library–was originally built in 1937, and without the grandeur.

"When the current owners purchased the house, it was a handyman special," said Phyllis Jacobs, an associate broker with Sotheby's who showed Patch around the home last week. "It was dark and dilapidated—unrecognizable."
"The house needed some structural improvements to make it safe for modern day living," explained owner Leslie Cowen. "That necessitated tearing down the back half of the house and rebuilding it from the foundation up."

Cowen and her family renovated the home over a nine year span—from 1998 to 2007—to make it what it is today. Now the Mamaroneck home, priced at $3,995,000, features five fire places, a custom-paneled library, a finished pool house and a private guest suite.
A major element of the home's overhaul was implementing a New England ambiance: everything from the house's shelves to arches to decor lend a Nantucket feel. Cowen noted the nautical-themed library and upstairs hallway—designed as if in a boat—are among her favorite features.
"I also love the nighttime view of the New York City skyline from the master bedroom," Cowen added. The master bedroom suite features four rooms, including an over-sized dressing room with four double closets.
And the home's 280-foot pier—which facilitates quick access to Long Island and Connecticut boat clubs—is the longest in Mamaroneck.
1337 Flagler's renovations have earned the home considerable accolades—recently, the house was featured in InTown Westchester and Own magazines.
