My business is a tribute to my grandmother’s old fashioned sugar cookie recipe. Her middle name is Jane, as is my mothers and so is mine.
Why choose that location? Why start a business in this town?

Although I have only lived in Larchmont for a couple of years, my family has fallen in love with the small town feel of the small town feel and sense of community. I have always wanted to start a sugar cookie business and felt like Larchmont was the perfect place to launch Sweet Jane’s. I searched the county for the thin, soft sugar cookies that my family has been baking for years and couldn’t quite find them. I decided it was time to share with my community!
Briefly, what business are you in?
Baking.
What’s the most difficult moment or challenge you’ve faced as a business owner?
Since I do not currently have a brick and mortar shop, my biggest challenge is making my business visible to new customers. When you don’t have foot traffic it is challenging initially inserting your company into people’s minds as the place remember to order cookies.
Were there any challenges that made you second guess your decision to be an entrepreneur?
No. I have thought about the idea for sometime and thought, if not now, then when?!
What’s been your favorite moment or proudest achievement since opening?
Hearing how much people like the cookies! The recipe is part of my history so it is thrilling when people are as excited about it as I am. Also, getting my first order from a stranger was awesome too!
What’s the most innovative idea your employees or customers have had that you put into practice?
My logo and tag lines really helped to take my idea and make it a real business. I couldn’t have done it without my great friend who helped design my look.
How do you deal with difficult customers?
So far, I have been lucky and have not had any. Cookies generally make people so happy!
How does your business give back or get involved in the community?
My business has only existed for a few months. I try to partner with local businesses and events they may be having by donating cookies.
