The Fuller Center's 'Walk For Homes Now!' Isn't A Race, But There Is A Real Sense Of Urgency This Year

Fuller Center's 24th annual fundraising event will help the organization's around-the-clock work to get families in homes for the holidays.

The Fuller Center of Greater New York will celebrate the 24th anniversary of its annual "Walk for Homes Now" fundraising event on Sunday, but the organization's particular needs are especially pressing this year.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The Fuller Center's annual Walk for Homes Now event is a sign of the season, and for those in need, it's also a critical starting gun as cold weather looms.

The 24th annual fundraising event on Sunday will allow for the hard work of helping to give families the dignity of moving into a home they can call their own.

The annual walk might have a leisurely pace, but the sense of urgency is palpable.

"Rents are sky high, people are displaced, and the burden of seniors and vets increased," Fuller Center of Greater New York City CEO Jim Killoran recently told Patch. "While Gen Z can't dream of having a home or family, many have left New York to afford a place to live and work. $2,200 studio apartments aren't affordable to anyone."

As cold weather begins to settle on the Sound Shore, the New Rochelle-based chapter of the group is especially dedicated to help local families, seniors and veterans afford homes in the greater NYC area.
