Mamaroneck Looks at Impact of Sequestration on Town

Town Board workshop, regular session set for Wednesday. Discussion also set to include a debriefing on Hurricane Sandy.

The Mamaroneck Town Board is expected to get an update Wednesday afternoon on possible impacts from federal budget cuts through the sequestration that went into effect on Friday night.

The town board is set to meet for a workshop session at 5 p.m. in Conference Room A, with a regular meeting set for 8 p.m.

In response to the sequestraiion of the Federal Budget, we are vaivating tlre impacts on several town programs," Town Administrator Stephen V. Altieri wrote in memo to the Town Board. "The programs impacted by Federal Budget reductions include the Section 8 Housing Voucher Probram, the Senior Congregate Meal Program, and the Meals on Wheels Program. All of these progams received funding that is derived orginally from the Federal Government."

The board is also scheduled to hear a debriefing about Hurricane Sandy.

AFFAIRS OF THE TOWN OF MAMARONECK

1.      Report of  Bids    

TA-13-03 Grass Maintenance – Hommocks Field & Hommocks Pool, a two-year contract. Recommendation: Award contract to Acocella Contracting, $8,510 for 2013, $8,800 for 2014. Bid is slightly lower than in prior years.

TA-13-05 Landscape Maintenance – Cemeteries & Rights of Ways. Recommendation: Award contract to Acocella Contracting, $12,700 for 2013, $13,700 for 2014. The bid for 2013 is the same as it was for 2012.

2.      Authorization – Renewal of Agreement -  South East Consortium, a group of 11 communities that provide recreation and developmental services for children and adults with disabilities and special needs. For 2013, the town's share of the program is $24,415, which is unchanged from 2012.

3.      Salary Authorization – Comptroller - hiring of a part-time clerk in the Comptroller/Receiver of Taxes office. A full-time clerk is scheduled to retire at the end of March. Town Administrator Stephen V. Altieri is recommending hiring a part-time clerk as an interim measure until the needs of the office can be evaluated.
