Rye Police: 12-Year-Old Girl Approached by Suspicious Man in Car
Alert issued by Rye City police department.

A 12-year-old Rye girl was walking home when a man in a suspicious vehicle approached her and asked if she needed a ride home shorty after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, according to Rye city police.
The man stopped twice to ask the girl if she needed a ride before she fled toward her home and he drove away.
"There was no overt attempt to approach the girl other than asking her if she needed a ride home," according to plice.

The incident occurred near Brevoort Lane and Greenhaven Road. The vehicle is described as a bright blue compact car with a black and white "taxi" sticker on the door and a yellow license plate. The driver is described as an older white male, balding with white hair, with a crokked tooth. He spoke with a heavy accent.
