On Sunday, High Schoolers in Mamaroneck participated in another harbor cleanup, organized and run by the Mamaroneck Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA).

FBLA is a nationwide organization with chapter scattered all over the country. Mamaroneck's Chapter of FBLA is nationally recognized, consistently producing national champions in various business competitions, and currently ranked as the best chapter from New York State.

This year, one of Mamaroneck FBLA's main priorities has been to go beyond the duties of just being young business leaders. The club's Program of Work (which consists of committees offering community service and finding innovative new ways to give back) has been dedicated to especially giving back to Mother Earth, in a time where all over the world, mother nature is under attack and climate change is a critical issue.

This week was the second Harbor Cleanup, organized by the Community Outreach Committee. Plenty of teenagers came all under the same motivation: to make our community cleaner. All day, people came to lend a hand to make baby steps to fight pollution. Trash dangerous to Mamaroneck's precious and well-known Harbor was picked up and disposed properly.

The Program of Work has organized these sorts of cleanups before, and intends to make it a common event to sincerely make a change in the great Town of Mamaroneck.
