2 Nassau Teachers Singled Out By Students In Winning Essay Contest
A $500 check to the classroom and an end-of-school year meal at Applebee's are part of the rewards.
LEVITTOWN, NY — A pair of Nassau County teachers have been recognized in a big way by their students.
The 9th Annual 'Bee'yond Teacher Essay Contest gets a $500 check for the winning teachers written by their students. Money is to enhance their classrooms for this school year.
Rachel Pulewitz of Michael F. Stokes Elementary School in Levittown, and Laurette Roddin, of the Westside Elementary School in Syosset.

Each winning classroom and their teacher will be awarded with an end-of-year celebration at their local Applebee's.
“We’re delighted to honor these outstanding Long Island teachers who go above and ‘BEE’yond for their students,” said Brian McDonnell, Doherty’s Director of Operations for Long Island. “Their creativity and commitment make a real difference in the classroom, and we’re proud to celebrate their achievements.”
