Island Trees Names Class Of 2023 Valedictorian, Salutatorian
Rebecca Wilensky and Melissa Jairam were given the graduating class top honors.
LEVITTOWN, NY — Island Trees High School has announced its students to lead the Class of 2023 into graduation.
Valedictorian: Rebecca Wilensky
She is a member of the National Honor Society and the National Spanish Honor Society. Wilensky is an AP Scholar and an AP Capstone Diploma recipient.

Last summer, she was accepted into the Johns Hopkins Pre-College Medical School Summer Intensive Program.
When Wilensky graduates in June, the school said, she'll have completed 13 out of a possible 18 AP classes.

With a natural affinity for math and science, Wilensky wants to pursue a career in the medical field.
Salutatorian: Melissa Jairam
The accomplished student is described as not just intelligent and hard-working, but passionate with a good sense of humor.
Her strong work ethic is demonstrated by her achieving the AP Capstone Diploma. Jairam took on a leadership role as vice president of her 9th-grade class. She has been active in several clubs during each year of high school.
As the school says "the hallways of Island Trees will not be the same when she graduates."
