WATCH: Former LI Comic Has 'Dream' Job Writing Wacky Packages Jokes
David Brody appeared with an improv group at Governor's Comedy Club numerous times.

LEVITTOWN, NY — A veteran comedy writer, who has performed with an improv troupe in Long Island clubs, primarily Governor's in Levittown, is now telling jokes for the "Wacky Packages," the longtime parody line by Topps.
"I fell in love with, we called them "Wacky Packies" back in the day," Brody told Patch. "They are spoofs of everyday products you find in the supermarket, and it would be a bunch of puns making fun of the products you know and love."
Brody grew up buying the stickers in the 1970s.

"I had stickers all over the furniture and all over my books," he said. "It was always my dream as I got older and became a comedy writer to write a Wacky Packages someday. It's very exciting for me."
Brody is also co-host of the Brooklyn Boys podcast. He spent more than two decades incorporating his comedy on the Elvis Duran Morning Show.

But Brody said some of the Wacky Packages puns probably missed the mark on his seven-year-old mind.
"It looked funny and I got some of the jokes," he said.
Although he knew they were special, Brody didn't think in terms of any future value. "Who knew in the 70s that there was going to be a collectors' market, Ebay and conventions."
