1 Dead After Getting Hit By Car On LI: Police

A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car on Long Island early Saturday morning, Suffolk County police say.

AMITYVILLE, NY — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car in North Amityville early Saturday morning, according to Suffolk County police.

Richard Moffatt, 30, of Amityville, was driving a southbound 2021 Mazda SUV in the left lane of Broadway, near Francine Avenue, when the vehicle struck a pedestrian in the road around 12:15 a.m., police said.

The pedestrian, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, they said.

Moffatt was not injured, police said.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
