Our local libraries are a source of both knowledge and entertainment, with informational and education events being hosted throughout the week.

The Lindenhurst Memorial Library often hosts these events for little or no charge.

And while the LML is currently undergoing renovations, there might not be many programs happening right now. However, here's what's happening this week.

Week of May 13
The LML is holding a Friends of the Library Informational Meeting this week. "We're looking for friends! We invite you to join an informational meeting on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 7 p.m.," the LML wrote on its Facebook page.

The Monthly Book Discussion about Jean Rhys’ Wide Sargasso Sea is set for on Wednesday, May 15, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. The book’s plot is similar to Jane Eyre set in 1830s Jamaica.

The Lindenhurst Memorial Library Board of Trustees is holding a Board Meeting on Saturday, May 18, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

The library will be taking an On Your Own LIRR Trip to New York City on Sunday, May 19, at 9:30 a.m. The cost for a round-trip ticket per person is a heavily reduced $8.75. Those looking to go would be taking the 9:33 a.m. train out of Lindenhurst, so please be at the train station office at 9 a.m. to meet a LML staff member who'll give you your return ticket in exchange for your library receipt. You may return anytime you wish. Prices are valid for these dates only.
