Boyle Honors Woman of Distinction Jennifer Mackie of Lindenhurst

The Lindenhurst resident is honored by New York State Senator Phil Boyle for her contributions to the community after Hurricane Sandy.

Lindenhurst resident Jennifer Mackie has been honored by New York State Senator Phil Boyle (R-East Islip) as part of the State Senate’s 16th Annual Women of Distinction ceremony on May 7 in Albany.

Mackie - a mother of three sons who works as an applied behavior analysis therapist with autistic children - was nominated by local residents to receive special recognition by the State Senate as a New York Woman of Distinction "for her outstanding contributions to her community," according to a release on the senator's website here.

In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, Mackie created a non-profit organization called Adopt a House - along with Lindy alum Christina Galante and fellow Lindy native Victoria Boye - to help provide support for area residents who've been affected by unfortunate circumstances.

“Jennifer Mackie is a remarkable woman,” said Senator Boyle. “Her dedication to our community and tireless work to help families in need is truly inspiring. It's leaders like Jennifer who help define us in times of adversity, and I'm grateful for this opportunity to honor her accomplishments.”

The Senate honored distinguished women from throughout NYS at a ceremony, where each honoree’s photograph and biography became part of a special exhibit proclaiming the contributions of these exemplary New York women.

Previous winners in the annual event have included leading women from the world of business, academics and civic life, as well as those who've performed heroic or selfless acts, made significant discoveries or provided examples of personal excellence against difficult odds.
