Departing Teacher Thanked for Her Service
As Elyse Gellert prepares to leave for another position upstate, Superintendent Richard Nathan recognizes all she's done for the Lindenhurst School District.

Every year at the June Community Forum, special are presented to deserving faculty and administrators in of their service to the , according to school officials.
It’s also a time when teachers and non-instructional personnel are for their service to the district.
This year Superintendent Richard Nathan recognized one departing teacher in his remarks at the Lindenhurst Board of Education at the .

Heartfelt Thanks
, who's leaving at the end of the 2011-12 school year, was recognized for her contributions to her music students and the district..
"Unfortunately for us, but fortunately for a school district up north (upstate), Ms. Gellert is leaving us at the end of year," Nathan said.

"It's a true loss for the district," he continued. "Thank you for all you've done for us."
His remarks followed 's conducting of the LHS symphony orchestra for the last time in a performance of Palladio by Karl Jenkins (from the Diamonds are Forever commercial, she noted) and Plink Plank Plunk by Leroy Anderson at the start of the forum.
She received a standing ovation from the crowd in the auditorium.
Additional Honors
Nathan also handed out several awards to non-instructional personnel recognizing their many years of dedicated work.
Five employees were honored for 20 years of service to the district.
