LI Man Used Mobile App To Target 12-Year-Old, Then Raped, Robbed Him: DA
A 34-year-old is accused of going to a child's home late Dec. 6 after connecting on a mobile app; he pleaded not guilty, prosecutors say.
SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — A Massapequa man has been indicted on rape and robbery charges after he allegedly raped and robbed a 12-year-old boy he connected with through a social networking and dating mobile application, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said.
Marquise Utsey, 34, was arraigned Tuesday, Dec. 23, on an indictment charging him with 2 counts of rape in the first degree, 2 counts of sexual abuse in the first degree, robbery in the third degree, and endangering the welfare of a child, Tierney said.
According to prosecutors, Utsey allegedly went to the child’s home late the evening of Dec. 6, when the boy’s parents were not home. Prosecutors allege Utsey raped the child, then demanded money before leaving the residence. The child later told his parents what happened when they returned home, and police were called, the DA’s office said.

At arraignment, Acting Supreme Court Justice Karen Wilutis ordered Utsey held on $750,000 cash, $1.5 million bond, or $7.5 million partially secured bond while the case is pending, the DA’s office said.
Utsey is due back in court on Feb. 3, 2026, and faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted on the top count, prosecutors said.

Utsey is represented by the Legal Aid Society of Suffolk County, prosecutors said. Patch has requested comment and will update the story if a response is received.
“The conduct alleged in this indictment reflects utterly reprehensible behavior and a profound
betrayal of basic human decency,” Tierney said. “The defendant was a complete stranger who allegedly used a mobile app to gain access to a child for his own sick benefit. Our office will hold anyone who exploits technology to prey on children fully accountable. We will pursue justice aggressively to protect our community and its most vulnerable members.”
