  • Title: Director of Cardiovascular Nursing, full-time, 8-4
  • Duties/Requirements: The director of cardiovascular services assists the senior vice president of nursing in the 24-hour management of nursing care to patients within the cardiology department. Responsibilities include planning, fiscal management, administrative and clinical direction and evaluation of patient care including the required staff competencies for age of population and clinical area requirements. The director will collaborate with the assistant director of cardiology and the medical director to formulate a strategic plan that identifies program goals, metrics and strategies for growth in interventional cardiology, electrophysiology and vascular services. In addition, the director will ensure the department functions according to established regulatory authorities, and will collaborate with other department heads to identify and solve problems in the best interest of patient treatment. The director serves on committees and task forces as appropriate and assumes responsibility for quality initiatives. The director will assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of  programs to promote recruitment, retention and the continuing education of  staff members. Additional duties may be requested or assigned. Candidate should be a registered professional nurse with a minimum of five years demonstrated experience in leadership, advanced nursing finance and performance improvement. Current New York State license as a registered nurse required. Bachelor’s Degree in nursing required. Master’s degree in nursing or related field or currently enrolled in a program required. BLS or CPR/AED training required and accepted from only two organizations: American Heart Association - BLS/ACLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) Program; American Red Cross - CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.
