Helping People with Their Homes Motivates Lindy Blogger
After years in the home remediation business, Bob Deacon has a few things to say about the subject.

Bob Deacon helps people. When a home is damaged, his business gets them back on track.
After years in the business he thought he had some advice to share and that’s what led him to start blogging for Lindenhurst Patch.
Being in the customer service business has given him an advantage in generating ideas, since there's no lack of material in his background about which to write.

Patch: How did you first discover blogging for Patch?
Bob Deacon: "After visiting and reading Patch, and then listing my company, it was then I decided to become a blogger and join the conversation."
P: Where do you get your ideas to write about?
BD: "Being in the service business and coming from a strong background of customer service, I saw a need for consumer awareness-style blogging."
P: What's the best thing you get out of blogging?
BD: "Being able to share my knowledge with the community and arming people with valuable information they can use or share with family or friends."
P: What was the last book you read or movie you watched, and did you enjoy it?
BD: "The book that I last read and have reread many times is As a Man Thinketh by James Allen. The last movie was Big Fish a movie about the tall tales of a boy's father who wasn't telling tales after all. The son discovers the tales were what made his dad, his dad.The book and movie are on my must-watch and reread list."
P: How long have you been in the home remediation business?
BD: "I started in the service on the home front back in 1982, and found helping people cope with the loss of damage to their home was most pleasing and gave me instant gratification. (Healing the loss, holding their hand attitude.)"
P: What's the most important thing a homeowner can do to keep it safe and healthy?
BD: "Revisit my blogs on Patch, and follow the advice that was written for them to gain that knowledge...like The Seven Principles of a Healthy Home."
P: Following Hurricane Sandy what do you think people can learn? What can we do differently to protect our homes?
BD: "What we could learn is after a big storm like Sandy, we need to prepare for the worst and expect the best...our homes need to be rebuilt with the mindset a storm like that or worse may come again.
"Build back with products that don't need to be replaced every time they get wet. Research what other waterfront communities have done to protect their homes, what building practices work and avoid some of the old ways of building.
"Knowing your home will be at the mercy of the weather and prone to getting wet, we need to build back with that in mind. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome."
P: (Besides Patch) what's your favorite website?
BD: "That's easy. Mine, of course: vangocleaning.com."
