Ho Ho Ho! Santa Claus Comes to Town

Father Christmas himself drops by Lindy to see the area's littlest Bulldogs.

The Christmas season began with a big day filled with holiday events on Sunday in Lindenhurst, including the first appearance of good old Saint Nick himself.

Santa Claus arrived at Village Square Park on Sunday just after 1 p.m. aboard a Lindenhurst Fire Department truck decorated with a cityscape and Santa's nine reindeer at the helm.

The jolly old man greeted children and parents eagerly awaiting his arrival at the park, posing for photographs and hearing children's wishes for toys this Christmas.

The event, co-run by the fire department and Lindenhurst Chamber of Commerce, attracted hundreds of children and parents on a bright and sunny afternoon at the park, as holiday music played and hot chocolate was served.

The fire department also raised money for the Pediatric Burn Unit by selling off raffle chances to win the "world's largest stocking," filled to the brim with toys and gifts. The stocking will be dropped off by Santa himself on Christmas Eve.
