Hochman Elected Lindenhurst BOE President
As Donna Hochman steps forward to president, Ed Murphy, Jr., takes step back into vice president role on the Lindenhurst Board of Education.

Donna Hochman and Ed Murphy, Jr., switched roles at this year's Board of Education annual organizational meeting on night.
Hochman was elected president of the BOE; she was formerly the vice president. And Murphy, the now former BOE president, was elected vice president.
"I'd like to welcome Mrs. Hochman as the new president," Superintendent Richard Nathan said. "And I'd also like to thank Mr., Murphy for not only the support he's given me in the last four years as board president, but for the past 16 years he's been on the board. He started on the board when I did. He's now going into his 17th year."

Hochman and Murphy were excited about their new roles.
"Several people had asked me about it, and each person really takes turns on the board. Ed's supported me throughout the years, and I’ve supported him. And I thought now was the time to move up," Hochman told Lindenhurst Patch.

"As I take on this role, he'll still be here to support me and help me along. And when Ed was out for a bit after his father passed away, I had to take on the role for a bit. So I knew I could do it after that," continued , who was re-elected to the board in May.
Murphy said it was also time for change.
"I've served for four years, and change is good," he told Patch. "She did a great job when I was out, and she's going to do a great job now."
Swearing in, Contracts
The annual organizational meeting also saw BOE Trustees and sworn in. .
Cunningham said the board's ready to roll into a new school year.
"We have a good group of people and looking forward to working with them. And we have contracts to get done, so let's get them done," she said.
Cunningham is referring to the contract negotiations in which the BOE is engaged with all six employee bargaining units: TAL (), aides, clericals, administrative, nurses and the custodians.
Both Hochman and Murphy have said the contract talks are continuing - in particular those with TAL - and they remain hopeful.
TAL President Rose Russo has remained just as mum, saying the same thing: That the talks with the BOE continue.
Other Appointments, Business
At the same July 2 meeting Nathan was sworn in again as superintendent, while Mary Lou Gates was re-appointed as district clerk and Rosalia Seiter was re-appointed as district treasurer.
The meeting also marked the first official one for , the district's new assistant superintendent of curriculum, instruction and instructional personnel.
She replaces Dr. Robert Tymann, who was officially sworn in as assistant superintendent of the at that district's school board’s meeting on Tuesday, July 3, according to a report on 27East.com.
She told Patch she'll be spending the Summer getting to know the district.
"I'll be first talking with a lot of people...as many administrators as possible. And I'll also meet with parents and teachers, depending on their availability," Dr. Camhi said.
She noted during her time in the Glen Cove School District one elementary school received a national Blue Ribbon, one middle school received a Breakthrough Award - one of 10 in the country - from the National Association of Secondary School Principals, and the district received a Technology Innovation Award from ISTE and T.H.E. Journal.
She hopes to bring those types of achievements and accolades to Lindenhurst.
