LI Man Shot By Police Charged At Them With Knife: Cops
Nassau police detectives were interviewing the man outside his Suffolk home at the time, police say.
COPIAGUE, NY — A 39-year-old man was shot by Nassau police after he charged at and threatened officers with a knife outside of his Suffolk County home Saturday afternoon, police said.
According to Suffolk police, it happened as Nassau detectives were interviewing the man outside of his residence on Buchanan Avenue in Copiague in regard to an unspecified incident on an earlier date.
The man was shot by detectives just before 4:30 p.m. The man, who police did not identify, was taken to an area hospital for treatment of serious, but non- life threatening injuries, police said.
