Lindenhurst Historical Society Holding Civil War Reenactment
The Civil War reenactment is set for September 15, and marks the war's 150th anniversary.

This year marks the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.
To mark the solemn occasion the Lindenhurst Historical Society will be sponsoring a this Saturday, .
The Village gave the Society the green light to hold the event at the Old Railroad Depot (Irmisch Park) at South Broadway and South Third Street.

It'll take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and it's free to residents.
According to Village Trustee and Society Member Maryann Weckerle, the reenactment will be presented by the 119th New York Historical Association, which has done numerous events of this type for many organizations, including the National Park Service, the Old Bethpage Village restoration and the New York Historical Society.

It'll be a reenactment of a recruiting rally, which will include a campfire and the firing of muskets using black powder only and no ammunition. It'll also be overseen by the Villager Fire Marshal for safety.
