Lindenhurst Honors Bulldog Football Team Alumni

During the Village of Lindenhurst New Year’s Eve celebration, Mayor Michael Lavorata and the Village Board recognized the extraordinary athletic accomplishments of Lindenhurst High School graduates Will Ruckert and Jack Winey.

Will and Jack were both outstanding members of the 2023 S.U.N.Y. Cortland “Red Dragons” football team that, for the first time in the University’s history, won the NCAA Division III National Championship.

Will was a starting Defensive Lineman, and Jack, a starting Linebacker, was named to the 2023 Associated Press Division III All-American Team. Both young men were honored by the Lindenhurst Village Board with days in their honor.

Trustee Maryann Weckerle and Trustee Douglas Madlon (pictured above) said, “Our Lindenhurst Community, including their many teachers and coaches, are honored to show our ‘Lindy Pride’ by celebrating and recognizing Jack Winey (left) and Will Ruckert (right) for their outstanding accomplishments.”
